BREMBO INAUGURATES THE NEW PRODUCTION CENTER IN NANCHINO

Thanks to an investment of 70 million euros, the Brembo Group is supplying the plants of European customers who produce cars and commercial vehicles in Asia. The pole integrates foundry, 41 production lines including discs and braking systems, as well as the research and development center.

Brembo Group inaugurated on 25 April 2012 the new production center in Nanjing in China, in the presence of President Alberto Bombassei and the main representatives of the Italian and Chinese authorities.

After more than 10 years of presence in the Chinese market, Brembo has concentrated the Group's production activities in a single area of 95,000 square meters on the outskirts of the city of Nanjing.

Here in Nanjing, all the production phases of the value chain have been integrated, from the arrival of raw materials to the shipment of finished products, ensuring better service to the factories of European customers operating in Asia.

The factories employ about 1000 people and, thanks to 41 production lines (including discs and systems) and the foundry, it will be able to produce an output of about 6 million discs per year.

The total planned investment is 70 million euros.

"It is with great pleasure that I inaugurate this new production center in China, a country that represents one of the most promising markets for the future of our Group in Asia, considering the very high development potential of the automotive sector", declared Alberto Bombassei, President by Brembo. "

This plant represents Brembo's commitment to the market to further meet our international customers and offer a full range of specialized services, from design to production." The new plants were built according to the most advanced criteria to ensure quality, efficiency and environmental protection, with a view to minimizing waste and maximizing energy recovery.

Brembo in China In 2000, Brembo expanded its borders and entered China with a joint venture signed with Yuejin Motor Group for the establishment of the Nanjing Yuejin Automotive Brake System (NYABS) company, intended for the production of braking systems for cars and commercial vehicles. In February 2008, Brembo acquires, through Brembo China, a majority JV signed in 2005 with the public-private financial company SIMEST, 42.25% of NYABS. In this way, Brembo manages to directly and indirectly hold 70% of the Chinese subsidiary NYABS, starting to establish its main industrial center in China.

In December 2009, Brembo and Donghua Automotive Industral, a company of the Saic group (the leading Chinese manufacturer of cars and commercial vehicles), signed a preliminary agreement for the purchase of plant and machinery for the construction of an integrated production center in the area of Nanjing, including foundry and processing plant for brake calipers and discs, for cars and commercial vehicles.

In January 2010, the agreement was ratified and consolidated the presence of the Brembo Group in China through the progressive construction of the Nanjing hub.
